A teenage boy has died after getting into the water at Skegness. Lincolnshire Police said emergency services received a record that a child below sixteen was in the sea at around 6.15 pm on Saturday, August 13.
A search was done with the aid of police, the coastguard and lifeboat crews and the boy’s body was recovered at around 11.30 pm.
Superintendent Lee Pache of Lincolnshire Police stated: “We received an excessive number of calls for lacking people at the coast yesterday. “At one point, within hours, we received up to 10 calls. All of the people who had been said missing, aside from the kid who unluckily died, had been located safe and well. Our concerns and prayers are with the boy’s family.”
An HM Coastguard spokesman coordinated the response and stated: “the search was done by RNLI lifeboats from Skegness and Mablethorpe, Humber and Sutton Bridge, the HM Coastguard helicopter from Humber and Sutton Bridge, and Skegness and Wrangle coastguard rescue teams.
“This has triggered the deployment of many officers, a drone unit, coastguard helicopter and crew.
