Black Economy. The economy by the black man, and for the black man. A black-oriented economy. Over the years, black businesses have had to fight through their ways to dominate the strategic sectors of the economy. It has been a fight that has been successful, and still ranging on into other sectors of the global economy.
Black people, through dominating various genres of music, like Hip Hop, Afrobeats, Soul, and so on, and through various motion pictures, have massive shares in the entertainment industry. Also Sports too; the majority of NBA stars are black men and women, as well as the NFL. In Africa, most huge businesses are all black-owned, contributing massively to the ever-thriving economy of some African states.
With these growths and development comes the need to protect whatever ventures we have made in recent times while pushing forward to add more bricks to what we have built so far. Protecting and Pushing the Black Economy can be said to be synonymous to a certain point. We can actually achieve both through various means, as we shall consider in this post.
See – How should the black man act towards religion?
Black Patronage
Securing our economy and promoting it will not be possible without us patronizing the various businesses owned by fellow black brothers and sisters. Not patronizing black-owned or black-oriented businesses will leave it at the mercy of corporations who might not be black-oriented, which amounts to a loss at our own end. Buy articles of clothing; stream music of black artists, and from black-owned online stores; get that movie ticket to see that black-stared movie. Patronizing our own business makes it thrive and protects it from the collapse that will take it away.
Government Intervention
Just like all governments, over the years, have made policies that promote white-owned businesses, making them enjoy the amount of attention and revenue they still have to this day, they should make similar polices for black people too. This should not be negotiable to African leaders, as it should be important to solely consider local-owned businesses to foreign ones. For the purpose of securing the black economy and making it thrive, government policies must be geared towards promoting black-owned businesses.
Encourage Black Enterpreneurs
To secure our economy, and make it thrive, more black people are needed. Every day, there are lots of back businesses trying to excel, and lots of black craftsmen hoping to get a chance to join the thriving economy. We should be looking out for these opportunities, and taking advantage of them in other to secure and control our zone.
Build Your Brand
This is the most important point for preserving the black economy and making sure it thrives, is to make sure that only businesses that have achieved the remarkable standard, and black craftsmen who have been properly equipped with the necessary tools, knowledge, and experience should be hired. The fact that we should canvass for black patronage and skills does not mean we should take half-baked into consideration. Businesses and craftsmen should make sure that they work on themselves; if you are not capable yet, strive to be. Work on your brand, your skills, and your area of expertise. If we must preserve our economy and make it thrive, only the best should be allowed. To be the best, make the best your standard.
