According to Chicago police, up to 14 people were shot on Halloween, including a 3-year-old.
According to officials, at least one person opened fire from a vehicle into a crowd in Garfield Park, a west Chicago neighbourhood.
“We have received reports of at least 14 people being shot,” Superintendent David Brown told reporters. “They’re all in varying degrees of critical and non-life-threatening condition.” We also have a person who was hit by a vehicle at the scene.”
According to Brown, the injured included a 3-year-old and an 11-year-old. He also stated that a 13-year-old may have been injured.
Police have stated that they are reviewing a video that captured the brief shooting.
“We’re pretty sure it’s a drive-by,” Brown said. “We know it happens in a matter of seconds. It starts and then it ends. The car pulls out after driving by and shooting randomly into the crowd in about three seconds.”
According to police, no suspect or motive for the shooting has been identified. Brown stated that there were “no known conflicts” at the intersection where the shooting occurred.
