According to Jana Kramer, who was cheated on by her ex-husband Mike Caussin, Adam Levine‘s recent DM scandal “triggered” her feelings.
“I am over the stuff that happened [to me], but it’s still very triggering when something comes up,” the country singer, 38, said during Sunday’s episode of her “Whine Down” podcast.
“I was pregnant when my ex cheated.”
Levine, 43, was charged with having an extramarital affair with Summer Stroh, a TikTok user, while his wife Behati Prinsloo was expecting. The Maroon 5 frontman disputed the cheating claim but conceded that sending Stroh inappropriate Instagram messages “stepped the line.”
Levine acknowledged in his statement that he “had bad judgment” while flirtatiously speaking with anyone other than Prinsloo, 34.
“To hear these words — ‘My wife and my family are all I care about in this world — that was always my big issue in my marriage,” Kramer argued. “How am I? How? When? Before or after you said, ‘You’re the hottest girl in the world to some other woman.
She continued, “Not trying to make this about me or anything, but I feel like when someone cheats or is inappropriate, their apology is what triggers me the most.” She compared Levine’s remarks and those made by NBA player Tristan Thompson following his affair with Khloé Kardashian.
Over the years, Kramer has spoken up about her marital troubles in the media and on social media. During their troubled marriage, which lasted from 2015 to 2021, her now-ex, 35, also acknowledged having extramarital affairs with several different women.
After getting married in 2015, Kramer and Caussin divorced after learning of her infidelity. In December 2017, they rekindled their romance and said, “I do.”
Caussin later acknowledged that he had a sex addiction. In her divorce petition, which she submitted in April 2021, Kramer accused him of adultery. In July 2021, they reached a divorce agreement.
Jolie, age 6, and Jace, age 3, are Kramer and Caussin’s two children. In the past, the “Dancing With the Stars” alum was wed to Michael Gambino in 2004 for less than a year than to Johnathon Schaech in 2010 and 2011.
Since Stroh made her accusations against Levine public, numerous other women have come forward with screenshots of flirtatious DMs the musician is said to have sent.
Levine is heard shouting stuff like “Holy f-k.” in several of his purported direct messages, which have since been made into memes. That body of yours is ridiculous, and you are f-king insanely attractive.
Levine and Prinsloo, who have a third child on the way and share daughters Dusty Rose, 5, and Gio Grace, 4, have maintained a united front throughout the scandal.
