There is good news this week for rapper Kodak Black as he gets his Florida weapons charges lifted.

Back in November 2019, the “Tunnel Vision” rapper was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in Miami. Following Kodak’s lawyer, Brandford Cohen’s deal with the Florida State Attorney, which would allow the rapper to enter court-ordered drug treatment, the charges have now been dismissed.

“The State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle and her team sat down with me and listened to everything I had to say about Kodak,” Cohen told The Blast.

Meanwhile, Kodak Black was facing a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. “At the end of the conversation, they were concerned that he couldn’t get into the court-ordered drug treatment with an open case and a max security prison,” Cohen added. “They agreed that the fair thing to do was to dismiss the case so that he can attend drug treatment and a lower security prison.”

Currently, Kodak is serving 46 months at USP Big Sandy, a high-security prison in Kentucky, for making false statements on federal forms when he purchased firearms at a weapons store. The rapper will be due to be released on August 14, 2022.

Moreover, Kokak Black, 22, is equally facing two pending federal criminal cases including a 2016 alleged sexual harassment in South Carolina, which has a maximum 30-year sentence. The second case involves drugs and weapons that were discovered in his car as he tried to enter Canada from the U.S.

Last May, Kodak Black claimed he was ‘severely beaten’ by seven prison guards at USP Big Sandy. The legal team of the rapper tasked the Justice Department and the FBI to launch a full investigation of the claims.
