In Mozambique, Sebastian Wicker was a land manager who was attacked two weeks earlier while on a safari.
After being bitten by the snake, according to his wife Amanda, the man left her a voicemail message in which he expressed his love for her just six hours before he passed away.
According to the Daily Record, the woman said that she responded to the message but that he did not see it.
Then, one of his coworkers called Amanda to inform her that her husband had passed away.
She clarified: “He is losing consciousness, as you can hear in the voicemail left behind after the snake bit him.
“He didn’t open the mail I wrote to him in response.
“One of his coworkers cried to inform me that he had passed away. Then I started sobbing. It still shocks me so much.
“Although Sebastian had previously been attacked by buffalo, a snake attack like this is practically unheard of. It is the first time something similar has occurred here in 30 years.
The likelihood of being bitten by a snake is quite remote.
When a snake attacked Sebastian, he watched buffalo at a termite mound with his safari client. Typically, the reptiles inhabit holes in mounds.
Amanda said her husband was probably bitten by a forest cobra or a black mamba, which are both venomous snakes commonly found in Africa.
His client had a dose of anti-venom with him, which Sebastian was given before being taken to Marromeu Hospital – a 45minutes’ drive away.
Once they arrived there, however, there was no more anti-venom, and the man was taken by helicopter to Beira Private Hospital, but Amanda said it was too late by then.
According to Amanda, her husband was probably bitten by a black mamba or a forest cobra, two deadly snakes that are frequently found in Africa.
Sebastian was given a dosage of anti-venom that his client had on hand before being driven 45 minutes to Marromeu Hospital.
The victim was flown to Beira Private Hospital by helicopter, but Amanda claimed it was already too late because there was no more anti-venom there.
