On Monday, the Jeep rolled down a steep hillside for nearly 140 feet, killing the two Arizona ladies and their 72-year-old tour driver.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, three passengers lost their lives on Monday during an off-roading excursion when their car went off the side of the road and plummeted over 100 feet off a cliff.
Diana Robles, 28, Ofelia Figueroa-Perez, 60, and Don Fehd, 72, drove north on County Road 361 from the Yankee Boy Basin region in southwestern Colorado when Jeep Gladiator veered off the right side of the road.
According to Colorado State Patrol Spokesperson Gary Cutler, the car dropped roughly 110 feet to the bottom before rolling down a rocky hillside for nearly 142 feet. According to Cutler, the event occurred between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Monday.
Robles, Figueroa-Perez, and Fehd were all killed on the spot.
“The crash is still under investigation at this time,” said Cutler. “At this point, there isn’t any one thing that has shown a cause for going off the roadway.”
According to authorities, Robles and Figueroa-Perez, both of Yuma, Arizona, were taking the Colorado mountain tour on Monday morning on a visit to the state. Figueroa-Perez was identified as Robles’ aunt in a *spot fund fundraising effort initiated by a family friend to seek money for funeral expenses.
According to authorities, Fehd worked at Colorado West Jeeps in Ouray, Colorado. An organisation employee verified an accident on a path earlier this week that killed a driver and two passengers but declined to disclose further.
The causes of death for Robles, Figueroa-Perez, and Fehd have yet to be established, according to Ouray County Coroner Colleen Hollenbeck.
